Next weekend is the
Tucson Festival of Books. During the Festival, the UA Department of Physics is having its second
Physics Open Day with free tours of labs and a talk about the Higgs Boson. I encourage you to attend both the Festival of Books and the Physics Open Day, and I will give you extra credit if you take a physics tour and write a paragraph about it - what happened and what you think. Since there are four tours available, you can do four extra credits!
Next Thursday, March 14th is Pi Day!
The Loft Cinema is showing the movie Pi on the big screen, followed by a discussion of pi with two UA math professors. Plus, you do not have school the next day! To get extra credit for attending, write a paragraph reflecting on your thoughts about the movie and discussion and attach your movie ticket. Tickets are
about $9.00 or $7.00 for students with ID. The movie is rated R, so if you're under 17 you'll have to bring a parent. It starts at 7, but you should get there early as I think this might sell out.
