Final Work Days

We are now in the twilight days of first semester. The rest of our time will be spent getting ready for the final, which will consist of 12 questions taken from your previous unit tests. Numbers will be changed if math is involved.

I do not have a study guide for you; your old tests are your study guide. I hope you didn't throw them away.

You are allowed ONE side of ONE 8.5"x11" piece of paper as a cheat sheet for the final.

EXEMPTIONS
There are two ways to get exempt:
  1. You have an A now and you had an A at first quarter, plus no unexcused absences.
  2. You have a good enough grade now that even with a zero on the final, you would still have an A.
Finally...the finals days:
Tuesday, December 18: 5th and 6th
Wednesday, December 19: 3rd and 4th
Thursday, December 20: 1st and 2nd

Have a great break. We're back on January 7th.

The Teacher Is In!

Hey everyone! The jury service I warned you all about last week has been cancelled, so I WILL be in the classroom this week! I was really worried about being out the last regular week of the semester when lots of you need to pick up your grades. Please take advantage of this stroke of luck and get your missing work turned in!

Honors: Newton's First Law

In addition to bellwork we talked about whiplash, fixing loose hammers, and whipping the tablecloth out from under dishes.

Conceptual: Projectile Motion (2D)

Today we talked very briefly about how to deal with an object moving in both the horizontal and vertical dimensions. The rest of the day was spent working on your last assignment of the semester (below).

Conceptual: Scalars and Vectors

Today we talked about the difference between vectors and scalars. We also added vectors graphically. Tomorrow we will add them with the Pythagorean Theorem.

Honors: Forces

Today we started talking about forces. We are only going to work on this unit for a few days before switching to finals review next week. Remember, I may not be here next week due to federal jury duty, so PLEASE come in for missing work/tutoring THIS week.

Fourth Test! Last unit test of the semester!

Don't believe me? Watch this clip of MythBusters.  Then check out these short notes:

And look!  If you want to shoot a monkey that will drop from rest when the gun goes off, you need to aim AT the monkey.  The bullet will fall too!
